Katie Bassett
Marketing and Communications Manager
Katie Bassett is a passionate educator with a deep love of history and carousels. She joined The Carousel Museum in September of 2022 after a chance encounter with the museum staff while attending the National Carousel Association convention in San Francisco, CA. After a brief conversation with Morgan Urgo and Elizabeth Mazzone, she applied for the Education Manager position while riding the Leroy King Carousel at the Children’s Creativity Museum! By the end of the convention, Morgan announced to all the convention attendees that Katie was moving to Bristol to join the Museum from Seattle, WA!
Outside of the museum, Katie is an avid hiker, runner, backpacker, and roller skater who has a passion for exploring the outdoors. She has lived in various states across the United States, from the Midwest to the Pacific Northwest, and has even made her way to the East Coast. She has traveled to 49 states with only Alaska remaining and has ventured outside the US to visit three countries.
Katie has worked for both major Fortune 500 companies and non-profit organizations. In her previous roles, she has developed and implemented 200-mile relay races for 15,000 people, developed national and global conferences and training plans, and managed security personnel across the world.
Katie is a devoted friend and sister, always there for those she cares for. She is also a dog lover and has a ten-year-old dalmatian named Laddie. Laddie is her best friend and constant companion, and she loves spending time with him going for walks, hikes, runs, or just cuddling up on the couch.
Katie is excited to be a part of The Carousel Museum and to share her love of carousels with others. She is passionate about preserving the history of carousels and ensuring that future generations can enjoy them.
